1940s Soap Box Derby Race Car

$9,500.00

When I found this racer, here in West Virginia 10 or so years ago I thought I was on to the Little Rascals garage. There was some serious visionary design work that went into this. This is an official Soap Box Derby Racer. The body is made of wooden store boxes, old coaster wagon parts for steering and a few other bits.

The rules say the race car can weigh up to 250 lbs, rider included. The seat is a cast iron safe, so if the driver didn't get the car up to the weight limit you could fill it with lead sinkers!

It has official issued soap box derby 12" wheels. 1940 WV license plates for fenders and waterproof flashlight for night time runs!

Hand held emergency brake and foot powered spring action brakes, and you better be wearing a good pair of sneakers, just in case!

64" long. This rolls smooth and at 250 pounds it will flat out haul ass, scary. I think this wasn't run much, or it would have been splinters.

Eddie has been around awhile, he broke his hand on the last run and had to quit. Still hanging round here with his official helmet and T shirt and will hate to see his ride leave. So... I'll probably have to send him along.

Here's a link to the Soap Box Derby history.
